East meets West: Made in Chelsea Bollywood beauty.

Silk, saris and Spencer Mathews in sequins. What was not to love about last night’s episode of E4′s Made in Chelsea. While snogging and scandalous antics between straight talking Lucy Watson and Jamie Laing were the talk of twitter, we could not get over how utterly glamorous everyone looked at Victoria’s Bollywood themed bash.  The looks ranged from va va voom blow dries and decadent brown smokey eyes to ‘that nose ring’. At BeautyLDN today, we think Bollywood goddess has become top of our list potential Halloween  looks to work come thursday. Here’s how to get the look with a little help from Barry M.

Arabian Eyes With Youtube full of arabian-inspired eye makeup tutorials, there are many different colours and combinations you can try to achieve Bollywood beauty. Sported by almost every female cast member last night, you can achieve the look in four simple steps thanks to the legendary Barry M Dazzle Dust.  First up, define brows and highlight arches with Billion Dollar Brows professional grooming tools. Using the pencil highlighter, blend a light sweep of shimmer on to the brow bone and into the inner corner of the eye.  Next prep the lid with a sweep of nude or beige shadow with a medium fluffy brush. We love Nyx single eyeshadow in Nude, the finely milled powder won’t crease or cake even in the early hours. Now using a darker bronze brown, like Barry M Dazzle Dust in No. 53, tap off excessive product and sweep the brush across the crease, pressing colour on to the outer corner of the eye. When working with a mineral powder, less really is more. Work with sheer layers to build up a bronze contour, blending with a clean brush. Now add a feline sweep of liquid liner and some kick ass falsies for a stare that could stop even Spencer in his tracks.

Finishing Touches

  • Let the eyes do the talking. Keep lips nude and sheer in case of surprise kisses.
  • add a dab of dewy highlighter on to the high points of you face and cupid’s bow to boost your complexion.
  • Try contouring with a matte bronzer to accentuate your cheek bones and jaw line.
  • Let your locks flow free in a straight centre parting.

It’s All About Plum Makeup

This season it’s all about plum makeup. Lips, eyes and nails in shades of berry, plum, burgundy and oxblood. Nails are rich and sultry with black and gold thrown in for good measure if you want to get your creative juices flowing. We’re loving Maybelline Color Show in Power Red, and Priti NYC in Cherry Ripe.

When it comes to eyes, according to Grazia plum makeup should be worn with “pared-down makeup to ensure you make the most of the eyebrightening powers of plum”. Celebrity makeup artist, Mary Greenwell, says that blue eyes should veer towards colder, blue toned plums, while green eyes work well with earthy, reddish tones. If you have brown eyes, she says that you can take your pick as a darker eye won’t compete with the colour.

Plum lips are glam glam glam, and the perfect accessory for ghoulish Halloween parties. Barry M’s Lip Paint in Black Cherry and Vicious Violet are juicy enough for the prettiest of vampires, or Nyx Round Lips in Fusion is more of a plummy purple for Halloween rock chics.

Made up in Chelsea – Our favourite makeup looks from the first episode of the season of Made In Chelsea

After a week of enjoying a hilarious musical  trailer, Spencer Matthews, Jamie Laing and our favourite bunch of boozy toffs are back. Our weekly fix of bikinis, Bloody Marys and perfectly pronounced bitchy back hat arrives in the form of E4′s new season of Bafta winning Made In Chelsea. At Beauty LDN HQ, Tuesday mornings are all a twitter about the makeup and manicures spotted on last night’s episode. From coffee on the King’s Road to country house parties, the girls never fail to inspire us to get glossy with our everyday makeup looks, adding a bit more polish whether you’re walking to lectures or running errands from the office.

While little Louise Thompson used to be our go-to girl for all things glam, last night’s episode belonged to straight talking Lucy Watson. From that white bikini to those white fingernails, The LDN Daily brings you Lucy’s best looks from the first episode of season six.

1. The tan Oh my goodness, that is the kind of deep bronze shade us desk bound mere mortals could only dream of. For those of us looking more St Pancras than St Tropez, it’s time to give in to tan in a can. We love the light, build-able colour of this lightweight bronzing spray by Ambre Solaire, but make sure to slough off dry skin with a scrub to avoid dodgy elbows and knees. For those looking to perk up a fading face tan, slick Wild about Beauty’s ultra dewy golden Glow Stick onto cheek bones and the bridge of your nose. You can even blend it along your shins for longer looking legs, not all of us can afford Louboutins you know.

Manicure And Pedicure Polish Pairings

107ce293ad37347ea34be05377074a73,lauren conrad, manicure and pedicure polishing pairings, manicure, pedicure, nail polish, purple nails, blue nails, celebrity nails, green nails, pink nails, red nails

When it comes to all-American-girl grooming, Lauren Conrad knows a thing or two. So when she puts together the ultimate manicure and pedicure polish pairings, we sit up and take note.

I love having beautifully painted toes, but it’s the one thing I often forget to update, and as my finger nails change depending on what mood I’m in and what shade takes my fancy, my toes are often left behind. The new season’s matte grey nails just don’t go with my neon orange summer toes! Time to change and take a leaf out of Lauren’s ‘polished’ book. Below are our Beauty LDN favourite shades for pairing together.

I’m also tempted to try these polish pairings as a French mani as they would look amazing and are bang on-trend. Watch this space…

Eve Snow Pixie + Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint Blue Grape

Eve Snow Sunrise Glow + Priti NYC Tulip Tree Teal

Priti NYC Blue Eyed Brunette + Priti NYC Stonecrop

Priti NYC Belle Courtisane + Priti NYC Ruffled Velvet Iris

Eve Snow Poppy + Priti NYC Nice Gal Peony

What To Wear Now – Blue Makeup

Believe it or not, blue makeup is a key look for this autumn. Yes, we know there was a time when blue eyeshadow belonged to the likes of Pat Butcher and nobody worth their Jimmy Choos would be seen dead in it, but hey, we’re girls and it’s our prerogative to change our minds. And if Rihanna, Beyonce and Kristen Stewart are all sporting the look, it only seems right that we give it a go.

513a74ecd4f663d2c6ff5eea0580fba8-rihanna, blue makeup, rihanna glitter makeup, rihanna pink lipstick, rihanna tattoo, rihanna nails

The great thing about this season’s blue is that pretty much anything goes. Experiment with a smouldering navy eye, a thin line of metallic blue, or a cobalt blue mani for an unexpected pop of colour. A wash of intense blue such as Korres Eyeshadow in Midnight Blue, or Lily Lolo Mineral Eye Shadow in Pixie Sparkle, across the eyelids can be as subtle or as bold as you like, by either blending and blending for a hint of blue, or layering for more intensity.

A line of blue along the top or bottom lash line is a great way of introducing yourself to the colour, again you can be as bold as you like or not. We’re completely in love with Nyx’s chunky Jumbo Eye Pencils in Cobalt and Electric Blue, both of which can also be blended with your finger into an eyeshadow. Alternatively, go for the winged eyeliner look, but instead of using black, try Barry M Metallic Liquid Eyeliner in Blue, for a sleek thin dash of colour.

When it comes to blue makeup, blue nails look amazing. Whether they’re navy, cobalt, teal or royal blue, the only thing they shouldn’t be this autumn is pale. It’s about making a statement, and if you don’t want to commit to the blue eyeshadow, then nails are the perfect alternative. Our top blue shades of the season include Priti NYC Nail Polish in Canterbeury Bells, Maybelline Color Show in Ocean Blue (the best cobalt ever), and Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Blue Grape.

Matte Nails For Autumn

Matte nails are one of the biggest nail trends for autumn – they’re sleek, elegant and bang on trend. The good news is that you don’t have to fork out a load of cash on brand new matte nail polishes to get the look. Priti NYC Priti Loves Matte will be your best friend for the new season. Simply use as your top coat on any nail colour from your collection and, voila, matte as matte nails.

So when it comes to matte nails, which colours work best? Dark, autumnal shades such as stormy blacks, murky greys and deep wines lend themselves brilliantly to a matte finish. Our favourites include Priti NYC Nail Polish in Magic Man Iris (below) and Moonstone Cactus (below), and Maybelline Color Show in Watery Waste and Power Red (all below).

As with all dark colours though, application is key. A great tip that we’ve picked up is to use a little Vaseline or lip balm just around the cuticle and nail bed (keep off the nail or the polish will not adhere properly), to prevent colour from smudging onto your fingers. If it does, a small-tipped paint brush or make-up brush dipped in nail polish remover or Barry M’s brilliant Nail Paint Corrector will both do the trick.

Nail Art Trends – Monochrome

This autumn is all about dark and stormy eyes or shades of chocolate, plum lips and monochrome nails, so when it comes to nail art trends, black and white is what it’s all about. From graphic stripes and checks to polka dots, hearts and pandas, monochrome is the nail art trend that will guarantee that your talons stand out.

Start with a black or white base such as Priti NYC Nail Polish in Bristol Fairy (below, left) or Magic Man Iris.

To avoid the polish from spilling over the edge of your nail or onto the cuticle, try applying just inside the shape of your nail so in effect you’re creating a smaller version of your nail. It will look so much neater. The great thing about Priti NYC polishes is that two coats is all you need for an shiny, completely opaque finish.

Use a cocktail stick to draw on the contrasting colour, or a nail art pen such as Barry M Nail Art Pen in Black. If you’re in need of tips or inspiration, our Pinterest board Nail Art is packed with step-by-step tips and advice.

However, if the nail art trends fill you with fear, you can always go for something as simple as black polish on one hand, and white on the other. Maybelline Color Show in Blackout  and Eve Snow Opium will do nicely thank you!
